Gavels Travels

It all started from Here

It's been spotted already! Wed 5th July

My understanding is that it was used by Bodmin Rotary Club at their handover meeting. A photo was taken with their new president, but I haven't received the photograph yet. (Is this the first time the same gavel has been used by a Lions & Rotary President in the week?)

The first Photo is in! it was taken calling time at the Hole in The Wall Bodmin.

It turned up Back with Lions Hymns on the Lawn but the President didn't notice.

We have the photo of Bodmin Rotary President with our gavel. Alongside him is their Vice President with the Rotary gavel, as I wrote before is this a first? (Both Clubs Gavels in same place at the same time.) It then seems to have ended up in the hands of yet another president, the Rotary President of Lostwithiel.

More Travels

This next batch of photos would suggest the Gavel is back in Lions hands, but were? there does seem to be a Beer connection!

I think it's still with Lions because the headland in the background of the next picture is Pentire Point so the picture was taken from the Stepper Point NCI lookout.

Off to The Races first it's Ducks then it's Ferrets

Now to Foreign parts, Well it's across water to the dead centre of an offshore Land. Did you know as PM he brought Car Tax to the Islands, he was never  popular after that! the travels continue to Hell and back via some very nice places.

We now have evidence as to who may have pinched the Gavel in the first place! In the first picture we have the Gavel in the hands of yet another Rotary Club President, it's Bude this time. The second picture however is the worrying one, it shows Bodmin Lion Tony Webb caught red handed (or should it be Gavel handed), is he giving it away or getting it back? Let's hope the travels continue.

It's OK, Full Steam Ahead, or should it be A Full Head of Steam for this next outing, possibly the furthest yet.

The Gavels enthusiasm for travel seems endless, It's off to visit more Lions, this time in Falmouth. Falmouth is the third largest natural harbour in the world, I put that in to add local interest.

It always happens it's back to the pub! does the gavel have a drink problem? I hope it's under control, the last picture is close to the edge but what a view!

The pictures keep coming and the pubs keep being visited by our dedicated Gavel. Just for fun email me if you can say where the pictures below where taken.

The travels have gone quiet since well before Christmas but I an glad to say it's on the move again it's pictured below with

Looking for a bit of local literature & poetry the Gavel looks quite at home.

GO GOSS April 1st, well, it fooled the President yet again. We also nearly had a bit of culture with "Dah Tingker".

The gavel gone higher.

GT Trig 1.jpg (38479 bytes)

It turned up at our charter night in the hands of the toast master. The president however never managed to recover said item, will he get it back in time to pass on to the new president in July?

Gavel to the rescue
The gavel  managed to get itself aboard the RNLI lifeboat SPRIT OF PADSTOW
then it had to do it's Kate Winslet impression.

After a full year of travelling the Gavel came home just in time for our new president Jon Hancock to take control. He has no intention of letting it get away again, as you can see from the picture he has it all chained up.

GT Back Home.jpg (47513 bytes)

Talking of chains, at Lion President Jon's First event, the Lions Country Fair, it seems he left his chain of office unguarded & it managed to find it's way to the Hole in The Wall Bodmin. Now if you remember this was also the place the first published Gavels Travels Photo was taken! Pictured below is the chain around Landlord Steve Hall's neck along side the Famous Hole in The Wall Lion.

Where Next? Don't worry Jon has the chain back & this will probably be the last update of this page, but thank you for following.
